Who knows what this kitchen appliance can do?
I can tell you that Betsy and I had yet to learn what it was other than an extra-large microwave.
We were on vacation in Arizona for our yearly week of r and r. We were staying at our timeshare, which has a fully equipped kitchen. After we dropped off our luggage, we went to the grocery store to get food for the week so we don’t have to eat out every night. Remember, we cook because we enjoy it, so it is not a chore on our vacation.
We returned from the grocery store and unpacked all the goodies. We had bought ingredients to make appetizers, main dishes of chicken and beef, vegetables for roasting, etc.
We looked around to check out the oven and realized there wasn’t one. There is no oven, just a cooktop and a microwave. So now what are we going to do?
Betsy noticed that the microwave had a convection setting with a temperature gauge. Now we had even more questions.
Can we put aluminum or metal inside? Will things turn brown and cook like an authentic oven? Will it take a longer or shorter cooking time? Should we return everything to the grocery store and eat out?!? Well, the answer is YES! Not to returning groceries, but that it will cook like an authentic oven and you can use metal pans on the convetion bake or roast setting! We made baked puffed pastry brie bites, brownies, roasted vegetables, mini hot dogs rolled in dough, chicken ....all in this wonderful convection microwave!
The moral of the story is that you learn something new every day. This appliance is impressive. If you have limited space in your kitchen and are thinking about getting another oven, this is the perfect kitchen appliance.
The hot dogs pictured came out perfectly. Nicely browned, extremely hot, and cooked all the way through.
